Math Teacher - Middle School
Job Description
The Middle School Math teacher is a full-time certified position reporting to the Building Principal. The Middle School Math Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with Ohio Learning Standards. The teacher will create a positive learning environment, differentiate instruction, assess student progress, and collaborate with staff and families to support student success. Candidates must hold a valid Ohio teaching license in Mathematics (4–9 or 7–12).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with Ohio Learning Standards, translating them into engaging and meaningful classroom learning experiences.
- Deliver standards-based math instruction that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application.
- Design and facilitate engaging learning activities, including hands-on, inquiry-based experiences, projects, and interdisciplinary connections where appropriate.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs, and gifted learners.
- Use assessment data to monitor student progress, inform instruction, and improve student outcomes.
- Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment conducive to student learning and engagement.
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies, techniques, and technology tools to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assign rigorous and meaningful tasks that are intellectually challenging and engaging for students.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant records in accordance with state law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators regarding student progress and academic needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues through team meetings, professional learning communities (PLCs), and school initiatives.
- Participate in and demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional growth and development through district and self-selected opportunities.
- Support school operations by fulfilling assigned duties, responsibilities, and extracurricular involvement as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Math, Education, or related field)
- Valid Ohio teaching license:
- Middle Childhood (4–9) Math, or
- Adolescent to Young Adult (7–12) Math
- Completion of teacher prep program + student teaching
- Passing scores on Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) – Math (028)
