Description
For school year 2026-2027
Purpose:
To provide intensive academic instruction for students with reading difficulties and provide dyslexic therapy for student who meet eligibility guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education preference for specialties in reading.
- Willingness to attend state approved programming on dyslexia.
The candidate demonstrates:
- A high level of professional commitment to the District and School's vision and mission.
- Successful experience in providing interventions to students in specific subject area(s) related to the Intervention position.
- Leadership skills and the ability to work closely and cooperatively with fellow team members, other building staff members, building and district administrators.
- A strong insight and understanding of the needs of elementary students.
- The ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- The ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with diverse groups ( i.e. staff, parents, and community members
Compensation: Dependent on education and experience
Performance Responsibilities
- Implement the district dyslexia program at the school level ensuring that federal, state and district policies/guidelines are followed and in compliance.
- Provide direct services in the area of reading/dyslexia/dysgraphia; assessment, identification, interventions, technology and progress monitoring.
- Work with the schools so that appropriate classroom accommodations are provided for students identified with dyslexia.
- Implement the districts RTI program specific to students identified Tier III in reading.
- Review and interpret data to determine appropriate RTI student groups and their need for instructional interventions.
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies/ techniques and technology to meet the needs of tier 3 struggling students including those identified with dyslexia.
- Maintain all necessary student records.
- Conduct progress monitoring for student receiving Dyslexia Therapy and RTI interventions through the use of formal and informal assessment.
- Work collaboratively with the building administrator to develop student intervention and dyslexia therapy schedules.
- Support District reading initiatives as the building dyslexia program designee to help monitor and support the needs of students.
