Job Summary:
Operating under the Director of Site Leadership, the School Principal is responsible for improving student achievement through the implementation of an aligned and coherent system that reflects the Teaching and Learning Framework, instructional standards, and responsiveness to evolving educational pathways. The Principal fosters a shared vision of high instructional standards and ensures the success of all students. In alignment with Board of Education (BOE) policies, the Principal also oversees the school's daily operations, staffing, and budget management to support a safe, effective, and student-centered learning environment.

Job Responsibility Description

Educational Delivery

  • Develops innovative programming aligned with student needs, current educational demands, and workforce trends
  • Builds partnerships with community, academic, and vocational organizations to provide students exploration opportunities
  • Oversees curriculum and instructional programs that recognize diverse learning needs and foster success for all students
  • Utilizes data to assess student learning and drive continuous improvement.
  • Leads the integration of technology into instructional programs

Instructional Curriculum

  • Develops, implements, monitors, and maintains effective applicable instructional programs
  • Collaborates with instructional teams to align curriculum, assessments, and teaching practices with district and state standards
  • Implements staff supervisory and evaluative processes tied to student outcomes and program goals
  • Ensures alignment with standards-based education and the Teaching and Learning Framework

Staff Supervision and Development

  • Designs professional development programs emphasizing student success and collaborative adult learning
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration, reflective practice, and professional growth aligned to the D51 Teaching and Learning Framework
  • Supervises all school personnel (certified and classified) including hiring, training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions
  • Provides feedback and coaching to improve instructional practice and student outcomes
  • Addresses employee and student concerns and delegates responsibilities to assistant administrators if applicable

Campus and Building Operations

  • Manages daily school operations, master schedules, and school-wide safety/emergency protocols
  • Develops partnerships with parents, guardians, and community organizations to support student well-being
  • Coordinates school-based projects, events, and activities
  • Manages budget, resource allocation, and logistical planning to maintain an efficient and effective learning environment

Student Services

  • Provide leadership, oversight, and compliance monitoring for Special Education, CLD, Gifted & Talented and 504 Accommodations, to ensure high-quality, legally compliant services
  • Collaborate with district coordinators, service providers, and teaching staff to implement appropriate instructional strategies, interventions, and accommodations that meet diverse student needs
  • Support evaluation processes, eligibility meetings, transition planning, and IEP/504 development to ensure timely, accurate documentation and implementation
  • Analyze student performance data to inform program decisions, allocate resources, and drive continuous improvement for all student service areas
  • Promote an inclusive school culture by engaging families, supporting culturally responsive practices, and ensuring equitable access to academic and behavioral supports

Middle School Principal

  • Bridges foundational learning to adolescent development with age-appropriate academic and social-emotional support.
  • Develops exploratory programs in career awareness, technology, STEM, and electives to help students discover interests.
  • Oversees transitional programs that support academic acceleration, remediation, and social-emotional growth.
  • Guides interdisciplinary collaboration among teachers to strengthen student engagement and problem-solving skills.
  • Implements advisory programs or mentoring structures to support student self-management and decision-making.


Working Conditions:
207 days / year

Salary & Benefits:
$113,913-$159,034*
*Salary Placement Commensurate with Experience
