Job Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Parks and Playgrounds Supervisor, the Park Maintenance Crew Worker I is responsible for performing a variety of park maintenance, turf, horticulture, forestry, custodial, snow removal, and recreation support activities. The Park Maintenance Crew Worker I is on call as needed. This is an at-will position.
Hiring for Saturday and/or Sunday shifts.
May be opportunity to for additional shifts - Monday-Friday 6:30a - 2:30p.

Qualifications/Education
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have a valid Drivers' License
Preference given to candidates with previous experience in related fields, such as horticulture or sports turf maintenance.
Must have flexible availability up to and including weekends.
working knowledge of hand tools.
Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) communications skills preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Employee will perform a variety of park maintenance work such as, but not limited to, litter picking, weeding, raking, sweeping, cleaning up garbage mulching, janitorial duties, snow removal, and other functions as needed.
Employee must maintain the trails, which includes, but is not limited to debris removal, grading and renovation.
Employee is responsible for manual labor up to and including digging holes, spreading mulch, painting and raking leaves.- Employee must clean and maintain any and all park pavilions, restrooms, and other assigned buildings.
- Employee must maintain turf, ball fields and other park facilities.
- Employee may operate equipment and/or district vehicles to provide a variety of maintenance on, but not limited to District roads, parking lots, common sidewalks, which includes, but is not limited to hauling gravel and debris. Equipment may include, but is not limited to edger/sod cutter, rototiller, aerator, blower, walk-behind mower, trucks, small hand-equipment and utility vehicles.
Employee is responsible for the operation of Park District vehicles, tractors, grounds equipment and implements.
Employee is responsible for conducting daily vehicle inspections and completing basic maintenance as necessary including, but not limited to, washing and cleaning vehicles and checking fluids.
Employee must document hours and work performed.
Employee must perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Streamwood Park District's safety program.
Employee must demonstrate and support the Park District's mission statement, vision, and core values.
Employee must be available for other duties as assigned and/or as needed.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be responsible for preparing and delivering written and verbal reports on a timely basis as requested by employees of the Streamwood Park District.
Employee must be able to attend professional conferences, workshops, and seminars pertaining to employee's position, as needed, for new ideas, developments, and techniques.
Employee must be available for other duties as assigned and/or needed.
Employee must obtain any other certifications required and/or needed within the timeframe specified by the Parks and Playgrounds Supervisor.

Employee must be able to follow directions and communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
Employee must have the ability to read and understand materials, such as maintenance and operators' manuals printed in English.

Employee must be able to work independently in day-to-day operations with general direction of the Park Supervisor.
Employee must have the ability to delegate work, where appropriate, in order to accomplish work most effectively.
Employee must demonstrate leadership qualities to perform required work.
Employee must be able to work in a team atmosphere, while promoting the Park District's mission statement, vision and core values.

Environmental & Physical Demands
Employee may be required to work both inside and outside during various environmental conditions, such as, but not limited to rain and mud, hot and cold temperatures, exposure to dust, fumes, dirt, noise, insect bites and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Employee must frequently operate, and handle assigned equipment which may include, but is not limited to tractors, heavy equipment, trucks, automotive equipment and various hand tools associated with park maintenance.
Employee must have the physical agility to maintain mobility from site to site and be able to perform moderate manual tasks.
Employee may perform duties which include, but are not limited to prolonged lifting of at least 50 lbs., standing, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing for extended periods of time.
Pay Rate
Non-Exempt, Hourly
$18.00 per hour
