Job Title: Curriculum Assistant (PreK - 12)
Reports To: Director of Academics
Position: Full-Time - 200 Days
Position Summary
The Curriculum Assistant supports the district's instructional vision by assisting with curriculum implementation, instructional coaching, data analysis, professional learning, MTSS/RTI processes, and new teacher support. This position works collaboratively with district and school administrators, teachers, instructional staff, and intervention teams to improve teaching practices and increase student achievement across PreK–12 grade levels.
The Curriculum Assistant serves as a resource for educators by facilitating professional growth, analyzing academic data, supporting intervention systems, and helping ensure instructional practices align with district goals, state standards, and evidence-based instructional strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction Coaching and Teacher Support
- Provide job-embedded instructional coaching to teachers across PreK–12 grade levels.
- Model effective instructional practices and evidence-based teaching strategies.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide non-evaluative feedback to teachers.
- Support implementation of district curriculum, instructional frameworks, and best practices.
- Assist teachers with lesson planning, differentiation, instructional design, and student engagement strategies.
- Collaborate with school administrators to identify instructional needs and develop support plans.
- Support implementation of literacy, mathematics, science, and other content-area initiatives.
Data Analysis and Student Achievement
- Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret district, school, classroom, and student-level data.
- Assist in developing data reports and presentations for administrators, school boards, and stakeholders.
- Facilitate data meetings with teachers and school leadership teams.
- Support the identification of instructional trends, achievement gaps, and areas for improvement.
- Assist schools in monitoring progress toward district academic goals.
- Help develop action plans based on assessment results and student performance data.
- Support the use of universal screening, benchmark assessments, and progress monitoring tools.
Professional Development
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and facilitation of district-wide and school-based professional learning opportunities.
- Assist in the development of training materials, resources, and instructional guides.
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up coaching related to professional development initiatives.
- Research current educational trends and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Support implementation of district instructional priorities and strategic initiatives.
New Teacher Support and PLC Facilitation
- Assist with the coordination and facilitation of New Teacher Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
- Support teacher induction and mentoring programs.
- Provide training and resources for beginning teachers.
- Assist new teachers in understanding curriculum expectations, instructional best practices, assessment systems, and district procedures.
- Collaborate with mentors and administrators to support teacher growth and retention.
MTSS/RTI Support
- Assist with implementation and monitoring of the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) framework.
- Support schools in analyzing intervention data and student progress.
- Participate in problem-solving and intervention team meetings.
- Assist in developing and monitoring intervention plans for students.
- Provide guidance regarding progress monitoring procedures and documentation.
- Support compliance with district and state MTSS/RTI requirements.
Curriculum and Assessment Support
- Assist with curriculum review, revision, and implementation processes.
- Support alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Help develop pacing guides, instructional resources, and curriculum documents.
- Assist with assessment administration, reporting, and analysis.
- Support district accreditation, accountability, and improvement efforts.
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend district, school, and department meetings as assigned.
- Collaborate with district and school personnel to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student, staff, and district information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Academics or Superintendent.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Education
- Valid Mississippi Educator License
- Minimum of five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience
- Ability to work effectively with students and staff
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field.
- Administrator or instructional leadership endorsement.
- Experience with instructional coaching.
- Experience with curriculum development, data analysis, MTSS/RTI, and professional learning.
- Demonstrated success in improving student achievement.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and educational best practices.
- Knowledge of Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards and state accountability systems.
- Ability to analyze and interpret multiple sources of student achievement data.
- Knowledge of MTSS/RTI frameworks and intervention processes.
- Strong presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency with educational technology and data management systems.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.

Working Conditions
- Regular travel between district schools and facilities.
- Ability to conduct classroom observations and training sessions.
- Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment as needed.
