Position: Assistant Principal
Salary Schedule/Base Annual Rate (Subject to Change): Administrative Salary Schedule $81,846.00. Additional credit for related years of service and education.
Work Calendar: 12 months, 261 days
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week
FLSA Status: Exempt

About the Role
The Assistant Principal works under the supervision of the Principal in the general administration and operation of the middle school or high school. The Assistant Principal works collaboratively with the Principal, teachers, support staff, students, parents, community members, and district-level administrators to implement and maintain goals and objectives for the high school.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Direct and supervise the student activity program and the student services program/registration process.
- Coordinates and assigns sponsors for student activity programs.
- Secures and assigns adequate volunteers to ensure the successful operation of student activity programs.
- Oversee the entire student registration process, including the creation of a master schedule, student registration and course selection.
- Assist the principal in the assignment of teaching responsibilities to staff members.
- Develops and maintains the student handbook, student activity handbook, and course description catalogs.
- Assist the principal in the general administration of the school and assume the role and responsibilities of the principal in his/her absence as assigned.
- Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the school, deal with special cases as necessary.
- Administer school rules regarding attendance and behavior.
- Assist in the implementation of district curriculum, curriculum review, and development of class schedules.
- Assist in the evaluation of certificated and support staff.
- Supervises and supports the counselors.
- Oversee graduation requirements and the monitoring of student progress.
- Plans and supervises all graduation ceremonies and events.
- Is responsible for Student 504 plans and their implementation.
- Assist in the selection and assignment of school personnel.
- Assist in the supervision of school staff, supervision of students during the school day and during extra-curricular activities.
- Provide for the health and safety of students and staff; ensure school facilities are safe, secure, and clean.
- Serve on parent, faculty, and student committees as assigned.
- Participate in the development of school-sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.
- Build and promote a professional learning community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Acts in place of the Principal when requested or due to the absence of the Principal.
What You Need
- Must have or be able to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card, through Arizona Department of Public Safety
- Master's Degree in Education
- Valid Arizona Principal Certificate
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
- Minimum three (3) years of successful teaching experience
- Specific administrative experience through internship and/or previous employment Knowledge of Arizona academic standards and ability to interpret test data to improve instruction, student learning and achievement
- Knowledge of Special Education and the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act Ability to communicate effectively with district administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents, and the general public in oral and in written form
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others
- Strong organizational ability in all aspects of educational programs
- Skill in effective decision-making and problem-solving
- Forward-looking in educational views and evidence of a willingness to accept change
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications and other technology
Willing to participate in training and development that would lead towards a more responsible administrative position for the future
