Description

Job Title:                    SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (1.0 FTE)

 

Qualifications:                         

  • Professional Educator License with an endorsement as a Speech-Language Pathologist registered in Region 6
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA (preferred); CFY accepted
  • Experience preferred working with elementary students in grades early childhood through 6th
  • Knowledgeable in phonology, fluency, and language disorders
  • Experience with AAC preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents and serve on a multidisciplinary team
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills


Duties:                    

  • Identify and provide appropriate services for children with communication disorders in the following areas: phonological/articulation disorders, language disorders, stuttering/dysfluency, and other speech-language disorders.
  • Participate in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including measurable goals and objectives for each student's needs as applicable to the educational setting.
  • Interpret test findings and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
  • Participate in all pre-referral and referral procedures as required by the District.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and complete progress reports.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with other professionals, students, parents, and community agencies.
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and other IEP committee members to ensure that students' needs are being met.
  • Model professional and ethical conduct at all times.
  • Participate in District department meetings of speech-language pathologists for the purpose of coordinating and improving the program and services to students.
