INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
The Asbury Park Board of Education is seeking applicants for the position of Interim Superintendent of Schools to work 3 – 5 days a week, anticipated duration: 3 months, with potential extension
Asbury Park School District, with a population of approximately 15,000 residents, is located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The district houses 1225 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Twelfth. The students are served by 350 staff members and supported by a budget of $64 million dollars.
The Board is seeking an Interim Superintendent who has administrative experience. The successful candidate must have demonstrated expertise in the following:
- Leadership in curriculum & instruction, human resources, facilities and assessment
- Lead with integrity, transparency and a student first mindset
- Cultivate a supportive and safe learning environment
- Exercise fiscal management
- Communicate clearly, consistently and authentically
- Knowledge of Special Education requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a NJDOE School Administrator Certificate, #0101, Standard Preferred
- Preferred experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
Leadership Profile:
- Skills and experience in Personnel Management, Finance, Planning, and Communications
- A track record of enhancing academic performance across all student demographics
- Experience leading and supporting a diverse student body
- A commitment to being a visible, approachable, and high-integrity presence in the district
- Expertise in optimizing budgets and directing resources to support educational goals
- Proven success in building strong, collaborative relationships with parents, families, and community stakeholders
- Ability to design creative and effective solutions for evolving district needs
- A management philosophy rooted in participation, teamwork, and professional trust
