POSITION TITLE: Human Resource Specialist
FTE: 1.0 (12 months)
POSITION LOCATION: Human Resource Services
SALARY: Cat. Z, AAEA/OP Salary Schedule (Salary range 38,912.00-42,915.00)
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Director of HR/Employee Relations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
3 – 5 years of previous experience in Human Resources or other related field
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISIBILITIES:
Assist department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for District employees
Provide customer service and assistance to applicants, employees and community regarding the hiring process of the District
Maintain and update confidential employee files to document personnel actions and provide information to payroll and vendors as appropriate.
Conduct and/or participates in new hire orientation
Conduct criminal background checks using established computerized system
Process employment verification of current and former employees to authorized agencies
Compile data from personnel records, software systems and prepare reports
Process, monitor, and provide information regarding employee benefits
Maintain Human Resources website and job postings
Process terminal leave calculations
Maintain various department records for assigned employee classifications
Serve as liaison between our HR team and third party benefit administrators
Receive and review correspondences to determine proper handling
Assist in preparation, maintenance, and submission of semi-annual State mandated personnel report (REP, OSHA, etc)
Provide prompt service to internal and external customers
Regular and reliable attendance
Other duties as assigned
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Write routine reports and correspondence.
Speak effectively before groups of people.
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
Calculate hourly, daily and annual contract salary rates.
REASONING ABILITY:
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to operate a Personal Computer or Mac and related software
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, specific software applications utilized in the area of assignment such as New World (Finance/HR/Payroll), PowerSchool, and highly proficient in Excel - by way of example not limitation
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
Detail-oriented and extensive analytical skills
