Description
Job Title: Physical Education Teacher (Full Time; Grades 6-12)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Physical Education professional to guide our students on their physical literacy journey. The ideal candidate will to serve as the school's physical activity expert, delivering a standards-based curriculum that addresses the holistic development—psychomotor, cognitive, affective, and social—of every student.
Key Responsibilities
- Standards-Based Instruction: Design and implement a sequential curriculum aligned with the 2024 SHAPE America National Physical Education Standards, focusing on the transition from tactical awareness in middle school to specialized lifetime activities in high school.
- Maximize Engagement: Ensure students are engaged in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) for at least 50% of class time.
- Effective Pedagogy: Maximize practice opportunities and eliminate downtime.
- Inclusive Environment: Foster a "Dream Team" culture where students of all backgrounds and abilities feel valued and supported. You will utilize the "6 S's" of modification (Size, Switches, Sound, Surface, Speed, Support) to ensure equitable access for students with disabilities and varying skill levels.
- Professional Management: Establish clear organizational routines and implement a student-led, self-regulation discipline model.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelorss degree in related field
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Current First Aid, AED, and CPR certifications.
- Valid Teaching Certificate
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and staying current with research through professional journals and conferences.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Physical Education, preK-12 certification
