Boyne City Public Schools has an opening for a Preschool Director for the Early Learners Program for the 2026-2027 school year.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required - Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field
o Must meet Rule 400.8113(9) for program directors, which states: All program directors shall have at least 2 semester hours or 3.0 CEUs in child-care administration or have an administrative credential approved by the department
o Master's Degree not required but preferred
• At least five years of experience in early childhood education
• Experience or knowledge with the following preferred:
o Administrative roles
o Grant management
o Development of plans to concretely assist staff in managing challenging behaviors
o Special Education process and rules
o Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP)
o State licensing rules and regulations (LARA)
o Michigan's Early Childhood Standards (ECSQ-PK) and Key Elements o Essential Practices in Early Literacy
• High-level problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
• Ability to build and sustain positive relationships
• Effective communication skills
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate.
Program Overview: The Boyne City Early Learners program is a source of pride for the Boyne City Public Schools. The program has had impressive success and growth over the past eight years. Currently, the Early Learners program has 115 students enrolled, aged 3 to 4 years old. The program has a dedicated special education teacher with a dedicated classroom. The program prides itself on its staff working with children of all abilities and interests. Field trips, celebrating special days, and special events help expand the curriculum. The program was most recently awarded the highest rating, "Demonstrating Quality," by Great Start to Quality. There are 26 employees in the program, including one secretary, one special education teacher, eight classroom teachers, and 14 aides. The Food Service department has two employees specifically assigned to Early Learners to focus on nutrition and on preparing meals that comply with the philosophy of community meals. The program's facilities include a full-size gym available at any time and three recently renovated playgrounds. The classrooms, hallways, and offices were renovated in 2024.
