High School - Mathematics Teacher - Pattonville High School - 2026-2027

Pattonville School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated mathematics teacher to join our team. Position Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the school principal(s) to develop students' skills and competence in basic and complex mathematical principles, equations, formulas and calculations, as well as an understanding of the application of mathematics in the solution of practical problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and administers mathematics curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and utilizes instructional materials for subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and effectively utilize the available instructional time.
  • Teaches knowledge and skills in mathematics, including concepts such as real an imaginary numbers, formulas, calculations and geometry, and promotes creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.
  • Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of mathematics to everyday problem-solving.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs and conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Implements district curriculum and assessments.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, professional development, workshops or department/district meetings, and/or by conducting research.
  • Keeps accurate and complete records regarding grading and attendance as required by district/building procedures/policies.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents/guardians.
  • Ensures that student behavior conforms to the school's standards and school/district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student conduct needed to achieve an effective learning environment.
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members, participates in faculty meetings, and serves on appropriate committees.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate learning materials/instructional tools consistent with district curriculum.


Additional Duties:

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s).

Travel Requirements:

  • Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of mathematic subject areas, including arithmetic equations, calculus, trigonometry, geometry, and other related areas.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or masters degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Missouri State Certification in Mathematics 9-12.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Work Hours: 7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week
 

Work calendar: 189 days (2026-2027 calendar)

FLSA Status:   Exempt

Salary: Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. (Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026-2027)
