- Three (3) years of experience as an Ed Diag in a public school setting

- Ability to relate well with students, teachers, colleagues, and supervisory personnel and to work effectively within a multidisciplinary setting
- Maintain updated professional knowledge of special education legal guidelines, current best practices in intervention and ethical practices
- Plan and provide new staff training series at the beginning of each school year

Function:
The Lead Diagnostician assists with the individual comprehensive educational assessment of children referred for learning and/or behavior problems, with particular emphasis on recommendations for efficient approaches to learning tasks, behavioral strategies, and remediation. Provide assistance to campuses and parents/guardians regarding administrative and instructional issues necessary to maintain an appropriate educational program for students. The Lead Diagnostician will ensure compliance with IDEA and district policies while providing technical expertise and support to assessment staff, enhancing the quality of efficiency of special education services.
The Lead Diagnostician assists the Coordinator for Child Find Services plan, develop, and implement professional training relevant to assessment staff as well as provide training for District staff in areas of positive behavior strategies and instructional interventions. Will act as liaison between campus and the Department of Special Education. As a member of this team, the Lead Diagnostician will provide direct support to student, school staff, and assessment team. Assists the Coordinator for Child Find Services with direct support for assessment staff including coordinating coverage for campuses when needed.

Responsibilities:
Instructional Management
- Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of federal/state/local regulations, rules, policies, and procedures regarding special education
- Administers and interprets psycho-educational evaluations
- Prepares comprehensive written reports relating test results to the educational setting
- Integrates behavioral data into classroom management strategy recommendation
- Integrates material/instructional resource data into classroom strategy recommendation
- ensure that assessments and reports are completed in a timely and efficient manner and monitors compliance
- Utilizes knowledge of reading and math curriculum and a wide variety of materials and strategies to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Formal supervision of staff with practicum or mentee status
- Responsible for all Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee meetings except those assigned to secondary chairpersons or ARD facilitator
- Organize cluster leaders to supervise diagnosticians and school psychologists
- Consult with assessment staff to support the implementation of best practices across campuses
- Oversees coverage for campuses without assessment staff support due to staff shortages or short term leaves
- Recommends effective classroom strategies and techniques to improve instruction

- Pursues communication with non-school agencies/professionals to enhance community relationships and child find obligation
- Serves as liaison with outside agencies/professionals to enhance transitional services
Professional Growth and Development
- Assumes personal responsibility for continuing professional growth/employee development including those areas the Lead Diagnostician is considered expert and requires additional training

Miscellaneous

Psychological Services Support
- Takes a primary role in training and supporting new assessment staff, including supervising diagnosticians, practicum students
- Assists the Coordinator for Child Find Services with professional development as well as indirect and direct support assessment and special education staff such as; assessing Department needs, providing assistance in areas the Lead LSSP is considered expert (including legal proceedings), and attending Vertical Learning Community, Psychological Services, Psychological Services Leadership, and Special Education Team meetings.
