POSITION:
- Treasurer Intern
INTERNSHIP DETAILS:
- Paid, hourly position
- Semester-based (12 - 15 weeks)
- Supervised by ESC and school finance professionals
- Aligned with Ohio treasurer standards
GOALS:
- To develop professional growth and practical experience by practicing hands-on exposure to the fiscal management practices of the ESC and partnered school districts.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observes and assists with the annual budget development process, including preparation of budget worksheets and review of revenue and expenditure trends.
Reviews monthly financial reports and gains familiarity with school fund structures, charts of accounts, and financial reporting practices.
Observes cash flow monitoring and reconciliation processes used in school finance operations.
Observes payroll processing procedures and learns about employee deductions, benefits administration, and retirement system compliance requirements.
Participates in activities related to financial compliance, including audit preparation, internal control practices, and records retention requirements.
Attends board of education or finance committee meetings when appropriate to observe governance practices and fiscal oversight.
Maintains accurate documentation of internship hours and experiences using provided tracking tools.
Completes required reflections, summaries, or learning documentation associated with the internship program.
Maintains professional conduct, appearance, and confidentiality standards at all times.
