Re-1 Valley School District is seeking a dynamic and collaborative High School Agriculture Teacher to join an established Ag program. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated colleague to build a strong, student-centered program that integrates instruction, leadership, and real-world experience.
REPORTS TO: Principal
SALARY RANGE & CATEGORY: $54,802 - $82,019 on Teacher Salary Schedule (includes extended contract days)
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
WORK CALENDAR: 208 days - Extended Contract with FFA Program
FTE: 1.0
Full-time with benefits; 4-day school week (Tuesday - Friday), extended contract
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is part of a two-teacher agricultural education program, where instructors collaboratively deliver a comprehensive model including classroom/lab instruction, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), and FFA leadership through National FFA Organization.
The teacher will share responsibilities for program leadership, student supervision, and community engagement while also taking ownership of specific content areas based on expertise (e.g., mechanics, animal science, plant science, ag business).
PROGRAM STRUCTURE (2-Person Model)
- Two full-time Agriculture Teachers working collaboratively
- Shared FFA advising responsibilities
- Shared SAE supervision and summer visits
- Division of instructional responsibilities based on strengths
- Coordinated planning, budgeting, and program growth
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Responsibilities
- Collaboratively plan and deliver curriculum aligned with AFNR Standards
- Teach a range of agriculture courses, which may include:
- Intro to Agriculture
- Animal Science
- Plant Science / Agronomy
- Agricultural Mechanics / Welding
- Ag Business / Leadership
- Provide hands-on, lab-based and shop-based instruction with strong safety practices
- Differentiate instruction and support all learners
FFA Leadership (Shared)
- Serve as co-advisor for the local FFA chapter
- Share responsibilities for:
- Practices, competitions, and conferences
- Chapter meetings and officer development
- Supervision of student travel and events
- Coordinate schedules to ensure consistent student support
SAE Supervision (Shared)
- Guide students in developing and maintaining Supervised Agriculture Experiences
- Conduct home/site visits (shared summer and after-hours schedule)
- Support record keeping, proficiency awards, and degree applications
Program Management
- Share oversight of:
- Agriculture Education facilities
- Equipment maintenance and safety compliance
- Budgeting, purchasing, and inventory
- Work with the advisory committee and community partners
Collaboration
- Maintain strong communication and coordination with co-teacher
- Collaborate with administration, counselors, and staff
- Build relationships with local agricultural industry partners
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain current licensure
- Participate in professional development
- Support district and building improvement initiatives
- Follow district policies and procedures

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Education or related field required
- Valid Colorado Teaching License with appropriate CTE Agricultural endorsement required
- Strong classroom management and instructional planning skills required
- Experience in a multi-teacher or team-based program preferred
- Background in an agricultural field
- Experience with FFA and SAE supervision preferred
- Experience with inquiry-based learning and project-based instruction
- Ability to integrate primary sources and research-based activities
- Experience incorporating technology into instruction
- Bilingual skills preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-teaching model
- Strong classroom and shop/lab management skills
- Knowledge of agricultural industry and career pathways
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Working Conditions
- Classroom, shop, and outdoor environments
- Extended hours for FFA events, SAE visits, and competitions
- Travel required for student events and program activities
Occasional evening events (parent conferences, school activities)
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with district policy and the Colorado Teacher Evaluation System.
