Instructional Technology Specialist
Position Summary:
The Instructional Technology Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the effective, intentional, and responsible use of educational digital platforms across the district. This role includes the designing, coordinating, and facilitating professional learning experiences that ensure educators are equipped to leverage technology to enhance instruction while staying aligned with best practices for student engagement, learning outcomes, and developmentally appropriate technology use. The specialist also monitors current research and trends related to recommended student screen time and translates this information into guidance and district policy.
Essential Duties:
Great Teaching & Learning (Instructional Infrastructure):
Supports effective instructional technology use and student learning outcomes
Professional Learning & Training
- Design, coordinate, and facilitate professional development for teachers, instructional leaders, and support staff focused on the effective use of district-adopted digital platforms
- Support implementation of instructional technology through ongoing coaching, modeling, and collaboration with school-based teams
- Develop differentiated learning opportunities to meet the needs of educators with varying levels of technology proficiency
- Partner with curriculum, assessment, and instructional teams to ensure digital tools are aligned with instructional priorities and learning goals
Digital Platform Implementation & Oversight
- Support consistent and effective implementation of educational digital platforms across classrooms and grade levels
- Collaborate with school leaders and instructional staff to identify needs, troubleshoot challenges, and maximize instructional impact
- Analyze usage data and feedback to inform professional learning priorities and continuous improvement efforts
- Support district initiatives related to instructional innovation, digital literacy, and responsible technology use
Great People (Talent Management):
Builds staff capacity and supports educator development
- Provide coaching and support to educators to strengthen effective use of instructional technology
- Develop differentiated professional learning opportunities to support educators at varying levels of technology proficiency
- Support school leaders and instructional staff in building capacity for effective digital learning practices
Great Culture (System Leaders):
Promotes collaboration, communication, and shared leadership
Collaboration & Communication
- Serve as a liaison between instructional teams, IT, school leaders, and district leadership regarding educational technology use
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders regarding expectations, best practices, and policy guidance related to digital learning tools
- Support district initiatives related to instructional innovation, digital literacy, and responsible technology use
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent implementation of digital learning practices
Great Systems (Support & Accountability):
Ensures alignment, policy guidance, and continuous improvement
- Stay current on research, national guidance, and emerging trends related to instructional technology and recommended student screen time
- Synthesize research on developmentally appropriate technology use and communicate findings to district leadership and stakeholders
- Use current research and best practices to inform recommendations and support the development or revision of district policies related to technology use in the classroom
- Analyze usage data and stakeholder feedback to guide decision-making and improve implementation
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Technology, Library Media, Educational Technology, or related field required
- Valid standard Oklahoma Teaching Credentials
- Experience designing and delivering professional development for educators
- Strong knowledge of instructional technology platforms and their application in K–12 classrooms
- Experience supporting implementation of instructional technology initiatives across classrooms, schools, or districts
- Familiarity with current research and best practices related to student technology use, digital literacy, and digital wellness
- Ability to collaborate with instructional teams, school leaders, and technology staff
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
*Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
- Master's Degree in related field
- Experience supporting district- or schoolwide technology initiatives
- Experience analyzing usage data and feedback to inform professional learning and implementation strategies
- Ability to analyze research and data to inform practice, guidance, and policy recommendations
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (Curriculum, IT, Professional Development, etc.)
- Knowledge of digital citizenship, media literacy, and responsible technology use
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
- Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
- Physical agility, able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, walk, reach and climb stairs.
- Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
Work Environment:
- Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
