Job Title: Girls High School Varsity Basketball Head Coach
Location: Northridge High School, Johnstown, Ohio
Position Type: Coaching/Supplemental 
Reports To: Athletic Director

Position Summary

Northridge High School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and student-centered Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach to lead and develop a competitive high school basketball program. The ideal candidate will foster athletic excellence, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and conduct all varsity basketball practices, games, and team activities
• Develop and implement offensive and defensive strategies
• Promote a positive team culture emphasizing discipline, respect, and accountability
• Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete success in the classroom
• Supervise and collaborate with assistant coaches and program staff
• Ensure compliance with all Ohio high school athletic association rules and school policies
• Coordinate scheduling, travel, equipment, and program logistics
• Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and administration
• Organize offseason training, conditioning, and skill development opportunities

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience (high school or higher preferred)
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
• Ability to mentor and motivate high school student-athletes
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful team environment

Requirements

• Valid Ohio coaching permit or ability to obtain one
• Completion of required certifications (CPR, First Aid, concussion training, etc.)
• Successful background check in accordance with Ohio law
• Availability for practices, games, and team events (including evenings and weekends)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior head coaching experience
• Experience working within a school-based athletic program
• Background in strength and conditioning or athletic development

Compensation

• Stipend based on experience and district pay scale
