Description

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Algebra that enable them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning aligned to state standards.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with Mathematics certification (Grades 7–12 or appropriate level)

Experience:

  • Student teaching or approved internship
  • Experience teaching secondary mathematics preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Strategies

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the Texas Education Agency TEKS for Algebra
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Use data-driven instruction to adjust teaching strategies and improve student outcomes
  • Incorporate technology and real-world applications into lessons

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with district and campus expectations
  • Promote a safe and respectful learning environment

Assessment & Data

  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments
  • Analyze student performance data to guide instruction
  • Prepare students for state assessments such as STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams

Student Support

  • Provide tutoring, intervention, and enrichment opportunities
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with parents/guardians regularly
  • Participate in ARD, 504, and RTI meetings as required

Professional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues in PLCs (Professional Learning Communities)
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development
  • Maintain accurate records including grades, attendance, and lesson plans
  • Comply with all district, campus, and state policies

Working Conditions

  • Classroom environment with regular standing, walking, and use of technology
  • May include after-school tutorials, meetings, and school events

Performance Expectations

  • Demonstrate growth in student academic achievement
  • Maintain effective classroom management
  • Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and adherence to district standards

Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the campus administration

*Salary is commensurate with experience
*Minimum Salary $66,000 for fully certified teachers

*Works 187 Days
*Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
