Summary:
The Grant Funded Community and Family Engagement Specialist will train and support Community Schools Liaisons under the direction of the Director of Community and Family Engagement. Additionally, the specialist will set goals, evaluate progress, develop processes and procedures, and ensure compliance with grant requirements. This role will guide and support the implementation of the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP), align it with school site and district goals, and manage data related to CCSPP objectives. They will foster strategic partnerships, promote student success through community involvement, and assist with district events and programs related to community and family engagement. Collaboration with school staff, community organizations, and district leadership is key to assessing progress and improving initiatives. This position requires a flexible schedule, including occasional evening or weekend events throughout the year with advance notice to meet the diverse needs of P-BVUSD.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
Train and support community schools liaisons at various school sites in implementing community schools initiatives and related job responsibilities.

  • Assist in planning and providing professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Develop community school practices, systems, and procedures, including but not limited to conducting Needs and Asset Assessments (NAA) and gap analysis to identify necessary resources for students, staff, and families.
  • Assist in the design and development of community schools.
  • Lead community outreach initiatives to engage families and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with staff, families, and community organizations to implement school initiatives.
  • Assist with facilitating partnerships and collaboration with community school liaisons and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and ensure program compliance through site visits and program implementation.
  • Represent Community and Family Engagement at the district level, as directed.
  • Support the planning of departmental and community school programs.
  • Work with community school liaisons and staff to analyze data, identify trends, and prepare reports.
  • Compile and analyze data for reporting program goals, outcomes, and compliance with the CCSPP.
  • Maintain records for community schools, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and financial oversight.
  • Assist in tracking and managing budget expenses related to community schools initiatives, ensuring alignment with program goals and fiscal responsibility.
  • Assist in developing and preparing presentations for stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning and and facilitating Community Local Education Agency (LEA) Advisory Council meetings.
  • Organize district-wide family engagement events, parent education programs, and student services, including logistics, communication, and scheduling.
  • Draft and prepare communications such as letters, memoranda, flyers, brochures, and presentations.
  • Maintain consultant agreements and MOUs with partners and programs.
  • Provide administrative support for various projects and special assignments.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the position.

  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Knowledge of the community schools framework and its impact on student and family engagement.
    • Supportive and positive leader with strong teamwork skills, skilled in managing multiple projects, planning, organizing and evaluating program effectiveness.
    • Familiar with strategies for engaging families, students, and the community in the educational process, including outreach, partnership-building, and event planning.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, and facilitate meetings with diverse audiences.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with students, families, staff, and external partners.
    • Knowledgeable in best practices for developing and delivering training programs.
    • Proficient in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, conducting research, preparing reports, and tracking progress toward goals and outcomes.
    • Strong organizational skills, able to independently plan, organize, and implement tasks to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Suite, Canva, and Adobe Acrobat, with strong critical thinking and technology skills, including hardware and software applications.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, solve problems, remain calm under pressure, and adapt to change, with keen attention to detail in all communications, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
    • Must have reliable and punctual transportation to attend meetings, events, training, etc.

    • Develop comprehensive communication strategies and materials (e.g., digital presentations, reports) for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring messaging aligns with district goals.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evening or weekend events with advance notice.
    • The position incumbent must be able to function indoors in an office environment and engage in work of primarily a sedentary nature, as well as outdoor environments engaging in active work and local travel. Requires ambulatory ability to sit for extended periods of time, to utilize microcomputers and peripheral equipment, accomplish other desktop work, and to move to various locations. Requires the ability to use near vision to read printed materials.  Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations in person and over the phone. Requires the ability to retrieve work materials from overhead, waist, and ground level files.  Requires manual and finger dexterity to write, use a pointing device and keyboard at an advanced rate 50 wpm, operate a computer, and to operate other standardized office equipment, almost constantly requiring repetitive motions.

 

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Must possess an AA or  48 units college credit, pass equivalency exam (CODESP), or Paraprofessional Exam
  • Two - three years of experience working with family or a community engagement/relations setting or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Previous experience working in public schools
  • Familiarity with the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP)
  • Demonstrated experience in program development and event coordination


Salary and Terms of Service:
Salary range (50) $30.49-37.50 per hour, eight (8) steps, eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week (M-F). Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. Prepaid family dental, medical, and vision insurance, prepaid life insurance plan for employee only, prorated according to number of hours worked.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Working environment subject to long periods of standing, walking, bending, and crouching, and may include periods of working in outdoor spaces, pushing/pulling and lifting supplies and technical equipment, kneeling to access files from ground level to 4.5 feet above the ground, pushing/pulling of file drawers, reaching in all directions, and working at a computer and/or telephone for prolonged periods of times. Subject to driving a vehicle to conduct work.
