- 7:00am - 3:30 pm
Description:
- The Orientation and Mobility Specialist evaluates and teaches concepts, skills, and techniques necessary for a student with a vision impairment to travel safely and efficiently through many environments and under many environmental conditions and situations. It is the O & M Specialists' responsibility to assist the student in attaining independent travel skills commensurate with their age and abilities. Services may be provided through direct or consultative contact.

Physical Requirements:
- Perform the physical tasks necessary to monitor, supervise and physically assist students throughout the school day during a variety of instructional activities.
- Report to the assigned site on a regular basis.
- Must be able to function effectively in an active, loud environment.
- Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment as circumstances require.
Qualifications:
- Highly organized
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent problem-solver
- Ability to work with students with vision impairments
Education:
- B.S. or M.S. in Orientation and Mobility for Vision Impaired,
License/Certification Requirements:
- Illinois State Board of Education certifications registered in Will County, Illinois
- Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP) certified or certifiable.
