Title: 3rd Grade Teacher SY 26/27                            Location:  District-wide 


Employment Type:  Full Time                                  Work Days: 10-month position


FLSA:  Non-Exempt                                                 Reports to: Building Principal       



Job Summary: 

 

The 3rd Grade Teacher provides high-quality instruction that promotes student learning and development in alignment with the Illinois Learning Standards and district curriculum. The teacher establishes a positive and inclusive classroom environment, utilizes data-driven instruction, and collaborates with colleagues and families to ensure each student's academic and social success.


Education, Certification, and Licensure:

 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related field (Master's degree preferred but not required).
  • Licensure: Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Elementary Education (K-9) endorsement.
  • Knowledge of Illinois Learning Standards and research-based instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain an effective classroom learning environment.
  • Ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.

     

Experience:

 

  • Prior successful teaching experience at the elementary level preferred.
  • Experience designing lessons that support diverse learning needs and promote critical thinking.
  • Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks.
  • Experience integrating instructional technology to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with staff, families, and administration.

     

 Essential Duties and Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan and deliver engaging daily lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with IEPs, 504 Plans, and English Learners.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate instructional strategies that promote student engagement and mastery of grade-level standards.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Integrate technology tools (such as Google Classroom, I-Ready, or Seesaw) to enhance learning and assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to share student progress and encourage home-school partnerships.
  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), staff meetings, and district professional development.
  • Support the implementation of district initiatives related to equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.

  • Excellent classroom management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with students, families, and staff.
  • Ability to use assessment data to plan, modify, and differentiate instruction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional learning, reflection, and continuous growth.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with diverse learners and families.

Terms of Employment:

Salary Range:


$50,727 - $64,233  Salary is based on CBA Union negotiated terms w/10yr credit cap.
