Ocean Studies Charter School looking for a passionate, collaborative, and creative K-1 Co-Teacher to join our incredible team for the 2026-2027 School Year.
This is a unique opportunity to work in a co-teaching classroom environment, where you will partner with another teacher to support our youngest learners through hands-on, whole-child, and experiential learning. We welcome Montessori-trained teachers or those with a Montessori mindset who value independence, exploration, and student-centered learning.
About the Role
As a K–1 Montessori Teacher, you will co-teach alongside a partner teacher, working collaboratively to create a nurturing and engaging classroom environment. Together, you will support students in developing independence, curiosity, and a love of learning through hands-on, student-centered experiences that address the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Co-teach and collaborate daily with a partner teacher to plan, implement, and reflect on instruction
Implement Montessori-aligned practices that foster independence, exploration, and self-directed learning
Design and deliver hands-on, engaging lessons that support early literacy, math, and foundational skills
Integrate environmental and marine science concepts into daily learning experiences
Create a classroom culture that promotes respect, collaboration, and curiosity
Observe and assess student progress to guide individualized instruction
Foster strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Collaborate with team members to support school-wide initiatives and interdisciplinary learning
Qualifications
- Montessori certification (preferred or willingness to obtain)
- FL educator certification in PreK Primary Education (Age 3-Grade 3) or Elementary Education (Kg-Grade 6) Bureau of Educator CertificationFlorida's Online Educator Certification System Set-upFlorida Teacher Certification Application
Experience working with early elementary students (K–1)
Passion for hands-on, experiential learning
Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
Ability to collaborate effectively in a co-teaching model
Flexible, reflective, and growth-oriented mindset
