Primary Purpose:
Assist the Director of Athletics in coordinating the athletic program for the district
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master's Degree preferred
- Teacher Certification with physical education endorsement preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the overall operations of an athletic program
- Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing athletics
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
- Fifteen years of successful teaching and coaching experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist the Director of Athletics in the following areas: game scheduling and transportation; game management coordination, direction and supervision of all events in the sports assigned
- Direct school services to provide for all students equitably
- Promote and support efforts to help each child develop a sense of self-worth
- Use evidence of program outcomes for corrective action and improvement, as well as for recognition of success
- Provide appropriate time, resources, and materials to support staff in accomplishing goals
- Promote a positive, caring climate for learning
- Develop and maintain staff morale
- Anticipate, manage, and resolve conflict effectively
- Assess and respond to needs related to athletic programs
- Assist the Director of Athletics in the following assignments: personnel administration, organization, orientation, development/aid in professional growth, appraisal/evaluation of work and accomplishments
- Inspect and recommend an annual program to help coaches meet district staff development requirements
- Assist with the preparation of the athletic budget
- Recommend annual equipment needs to the Director of Athletics
- Recommend items for purchase
- Maintain an effective system for the central receiving and distribution of equipment to schools
- Report to the Director of Athletics on the status of performance and outcomes related to the athletic program
- Support and encourage the implementation of plans for improved student behavior that reflect enhanced opportunities for learning
- Promote collaborative teaming by working with faculty and encouraging student-parent input to develop a more positive school climate
- Take the initiative to develop professional skills appropriate to job assignments
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible, and serve as a role model for all district staff
- Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from superiors
- Follow the attendance policy as assigned by the supervisor
- Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor
- Communicate clearly the district's needs and programs to the parents and the community, and respond to their concerns in a timely manner
- Demonstrate an awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs

- Direct and evaluate a small group of employees

- Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.Work with frequent interruptions. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
- Prolonged use of a computer and repetitive hand motions. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
