Primary Purpose:
The role of an appraisal secretary is to assist assessment staff maintain proper Special Education records in a typical office environment. In addition, the appraisal secretary is a support for assessment staff by communicating with parents and others seeking information regarding Special Education.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalency
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of computer, and typical office machinery.
- Organizational and interpersonal skills
- Adapt well in all types of situations
Experience:
- 1 – 3 years of secretarial experience, preferably in an educational environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support Board and administrative policies and decisions.
Maintain professional work environment through a positive attitude, punctuality, regular attendance, phone etiquette, and personal appearance.
General
Check inactive and active student records
Log referrals into data base for tracking.
Enter information into eSped and process referrals.
Prepare eligibility files, dividers, logs, and data sheets.
Prepare referral packets.
Locate and check eligibility folders and verify data.
Notify assessment team staff of any transfers.
Prepare initial parent ARD notice and monitor receipt of response with follow-up as needed.
Assist assessment staff prepare for ARD meetings.
Create data base for ECI and Child Find referrals
Maintain detailed documentation of referrals, timelines and receipt of required documentation from AISD staff.
Other
Maintain confidentiality.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education.
