Dean of Spiritual Life & Campus Ministry

 

Full-Time | 12-Month Position

 

Position Summary

 

The Dean of Spiritual Life & Campus Ministry serves as the senior leader responsible for advancing the Catholic mission, spiritual life, and faith formation of Brother Rice High School. Reporting directly to the Head of School/President, this position serves as department chair for Theology, provides strategic leadership for campus ministry, retreats, liturgical life, service initiatives, and the integration of Catholic values throughout the school community.

 

This role ensures that the mission of Catholic education remains central to the student experience and that young men are formed spiritually, morally, intellectually, and socially in the tradition of faith, service, and leadership.

 

The Dean of Spiritual Life & Campus Ministry collaborates closely with the Dean of Academics, Dean of Student Life, Director of Athletics, and other senior leaders to promote the holistic formation of every student and strengthen the shared mission of the school.

 


 

Key Responsibilities

 

Catholic Mission & Identity

 

  • Provide leadership in promoting and strengthening the Catholic identity and spiritual traditions of the school.
  • Ensure that faith and Gospel values are meaningfully integrated across all dimensions of school life.
  • Partner with the Head of School/President in advancing the mission and spiritual vision of the institution.
  • As Theology department chair, provides oversight and direction for the Theology curriculum and department in alignment with school mission and Church teaching.
  • Develop opportunities for students, families, alumni, faculty, staff, and neighbors to deepen spiritual engagement within the Brother Rice community.

 


 

Campus Ministry Leadership

 

  • Lead and oversee all campus ministry programs and initiatives.
  • Supervise campus ministry staff, volunteers, and student-led ministry efforts.
  • Teach and guide students through the Peer Ministry Course, equipping students with the skills, gifts, and vision needed to assume active leadership roles in Campus Ministry programs, including school liturgies, retreats, mission initiatives, and service experiences.
  • Develop innovative programs that foster spiritual growth, discipleship, leadership, and belonging among students.

 


 

Retreat Programs

 

  • Oversee the design, planning, and implementation of all student retreat experiences.
  • Ensure retreat programs provide meaningful opportunities for reflection, faith development, brotherhood, and personal growth.

 


 

Service, Advocacy & Social Justice

 

  • Provide oversight for student advocacy, service learning, and outreach initiatives.
  • Encourage student participation in community service, immersion experiences, and social justice efforts rooted in Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Strengthen partnerships that connect students to meaningful service opportunities beyond the classroom.

 


 

Liturgical Life & Prayer

 

  • Coordinate school Masses, prayer services, sacramental celebrations, and liturgical events.
  • Foster a vibrant culture of prayer and worship within the school community.
  • Collaborate with faculty, students, and clergy to ensure liturgies are engaging and mission-centered.

 


 

Faith Formation for the School Community

 

  • Support the ongoing spiritual formation of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Promote opportunities for prayer, reflection, faith sharing, and professional formation.
  • Help cultivate a school culture where faith is visible, lived, and celebrated daily.
  • Develops opportunities for BRHS alumni, student families, neighbors and overall community to experience spiritual enrichment

 


 

Collaboration with Academic Leadership

 

  • Work closely with the Dean of Academics to ensure the Theology Department supports the broader mission and spiritual formation goals of the school.
  • Promote interdisciplinary opportunities where faith and learning intersect across departments.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Pastoral Ministry, or related field preferred
  • Experience in Catholic ministry, Catholic secondary education, or faith formation leadership
  • Strong commitment to the mission of Catholic education and the formation of young men
  • Demonstrated leadership in ministry, program development, and mission-centered initiatives
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and clergy
