Elementary School Guidance Counselor

The Jericho School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Elementary School Counselor for an anticipated probationary position. The successful candidate will support the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of elementary students through a comprehensive, data-informed counseling program.

This position involves close collaboration with faculty, administrators, and families to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral development
• Deliver classroom guidance lessons focused on social-emotional learning, character education, and interpersonal skills
• Collaborate with teachers and families to address student needs and implement appropriate interventions
• Support students' academic development, including goal setting, organization, and study skills
• Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide initiatives related to student wellness and school climate
• Participate in crisis intervention and response as needed
• Utilize data to assess student needs, monitor progress, and inform program planning
• Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a collaborative counseling team  

Qualifications:

• New York State Certification in School Counseling required
• Knowledge of child development and evidence-based counseling practices
• Familiarity with the ASCA National Model
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
• Demonstrated ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families
