Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a dedicated and student-centered DAEP Teacher to provide instructional and behavioral support to students assigned to the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program. This position plays a critical role in helping students remain academically engaged while developing positive behavioral and decision-making skills.
Primary Purpose
Provide instruction, supervision, and behavioral support to students assigned to DAEP in accordance with Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements, district policies, and campus expectations, ensuring continuity of learning and student growth.
Qualifications
Education / Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate grade-level or content certification
- Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
- Knowledge of behavior support strategies and restorative practices
- Ability to provide instruction across multiple content areas as needed
- Ability to work with at-risk and diverse student populations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Experience:
- Experience working with at-risk students preferred
- Experience in behavior management or alternative education settings preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instruction & Academic Support
- Provide instruction based on lesson plans and assignments provided by home campus teachers
- Ensure students remain on track academically during DAEP placement
- Support multiple content areas and grade levels as needed
- Monitor and document student academic progress
Behavior Management & Student Support
- Implement structured behavior expectations and reinforce positive behavior
- Support students in developing self-discipline, responsibility, and decision-making skills
- Utilize behavior intervention strategies and support plans as appropriate
- Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment
Program Implementation
- Follow all DAEP procedures, expectations, and district guidelines
- Monitor student attendance, assignments, and participation
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and staff to support student success
Communication & Documentation
- Communicate regularly with campus staff and administration regarding student progress
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
- Report incidents, concerns, or safety issues promptly
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in professional development and required trainings
- Support district and campus initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
