Head Custodian (Evenings)

Supervisor: Director of Operations

Primary Responsibilities: The Head Custodian is responsible for the overall maintenance and cleanliness of the school. It is their responsibility to ensure that the facilities are maintained in a condition of cleanliness, and safety. They also have supervisory responsibility over the other custodians including seasonal custodial employees. They must be able to perform a full range of general cleaning operations throughout school facility, such as clean floors; walls; fixtures; restrooms; cafeteria and gym areas and other assignments as specified by supervisor(s).

Qualifications: Knowledge of custodial procedures; read and follow instructions; good communication skills with co-workers and public; operate custodial equipment. Physical ability to exert 50-100 lbs. of force; strenuous walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside with exposure to hot and cold temperatures; and exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials.

Education/Training/Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D, and related job experience

Terms of Employment: Employed for a full time 12-month period with salary and benefits set by the Board of Education.

Essential Functions:

    Cleans classrooms, offices, libraries, restrooms and common areas including but not necessarily limited to whiteboards, dusting, emptying waste receptacles, vacuuming and washing windows.
    Immediately reports any vandalism or other damage to school property to his/her superior.
    Assumes responsibility for the security of the building - all doors and windows locked and lights turned off as needed before leaving the building for the night.
    Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment 
    Moves furniture and equipment and assists in special events presentations.
    Corrects minor safety hazards when observed, notifies Director of Operations if additional maintenance is needed.
    Complies with District Policies
    Performs other duties as requested by supervisor
