Description

Position Title: Head Cheerleading Coach
Position Type: Stipend Position (Seasonal: Fall and Winter Sports Seasons)
Reports to: Athletic Director 

 

Position Summary:

The Head Cheer Coach is responsible for leading the cheer program throughout the fall and winter sports seasons, fostering a positive, inclusive, and spirited environment. The coach will develop the skills of student-athletes, promote sportsmanship and teamwork, coordinate performances at athletic and school events, and ensure the program meets the school's athletic and academic standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and conduct effective practices that develop students' cheerleading, tumbling, and dance skills.
     
  • Prepare squads for performances at football, basketball, and other designated events.
     
  • Promote school spirit at games, pep rallies, and community events.
     
  • Teach proper techniques for cheers, chants, stunts, and safety.
     
  • Uphold high standards of sportsmanship, behavior, and academic achievement.
     
  • Supervise student-athletes at all practices, games, competitions, and events.
     
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive team culture.
     
  • Coordinate and manage tryouts fairly and transparently.
     
  • Ensure compliance with all school, district, league, and state regulations.
     
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school administration, and the athletic department.
     
  • Manage team logistics, including practice schedules, transportation, equipment, and uniforms.
     
  • Plan fundraising activities if necessary to support program needs.
     
  • Maintain CPR, First Aid, and concussion training certifications as required.
     

Qualifications:

  • Prior cheerleading coaching experience preferred (high school level or higher).
     
  • Strong knowledge of cheerleading fundamentals, stunts, and safety protocols.
     
  • Ability to mentor and inspire student-athletes.
     
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
     
  • Must pass all district background checks and meet coaching certification requirements.
     
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and attend events as required.
     

Salary Range: $7398.00 - $9321.00 depending on previous paid coaching experience in this sport.
