JOB SUMMARY: The Building & Property Maintenance Instructor will prepare individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to keep a building functioning, and to serve a variety of structures including commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. Includes instruction in the basic maintenance and repair skills required to service building systems, such as air conditioning, heating, plumbing, electrical, major appliances, and other mechanical systems. Outdoor property maintenance duties including landscaping, groundskeeping, and seasonal site upkeep to maintain safe, functional, and visually appealing exterior environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Instruction
- Assist students to develop skills which will enhance student ability to obtain and maintain employment
- Develop appropriate of course materials and aids including total written curriculum, lesson plans, instruction sheets, visual aides, and other related materials
- Plans individual and group activities to stimulate competency in vocational content area and related language, reading, writing, math, science concepts
- Serve as mentor and teacher in the development of specific skills relevant to an industry or course of study
- Manage equipment, tools, and other supplies needed to support established curriculum
- Update/develop curriculum to keep current with industry standards and trends
- Evaluate student progress and develop reports and other feedback materials/assessments
- Participate in student conferences to develop plan which enhance student learning
- Support students in acquiring employment and/or continuing education by assisting in developing resumes and various job search materials
- Maintain student and other records
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance the classroom environment
- Work with the Occupational Advisory Committee and student organizations to further learning goals
- Applies the LCCTC discipline policy to classroom situations
- Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of light activity or theoretical instruction to avoid over-stimulation and fatigue
- Designs instruction and provides opportunities for students to develop safety practices, professionalism and positive work ethics
- Follows basic first aid procedures as necessary
- Provides lectures, demonstrations and active learning tasks
- Adapts instruction for students with special needs
- Integrates academic standards into the vocational-technical education curriculum
- Models professional, ethical and appropriate work behavior
- Supervises assigned students at all times
- Maintains and records student progress through an approved grade book procedure
- Completes required paperwork for secondary education programs
- Uses professional judgment to provide and maintain an educational environment conducive to learning
2. Professional
- Performs duties as prescribed in the PA School Code
- Acts in concurrence with the PA Professional Code of Conduct
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4 years of wage-earning experience in the trade, or 2 years of experience plus a bachelor's degree
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Ability to pass the Occupational Competency Assessment
• Ability to obtain Career & Technical certifications through course work
• FBI, State and Child Abuse Clearances
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Evaluate student progress and develop reports and other feedback materials/assessments
SCHEDULE:
Monday- Friday; approximately 7:40 a.m. - 3:20 p.m.; 189 days per year
SALARY:
Experience-Based Cert: $60,262 - $62,062; Career & Technical Instructional I: $67,462 - $70,660; Career & Technical Instructional II: $73,790 - $76,988 (subject to change pending contract negotiations)
