Applications are being accepted for the position of Fire Science II Instructor for our Main Street Campus (1601 W Main St, Mesa AZ 85201). The hours for this position are M-F 7:30 a.m. -4:00 p.m.

Position SummaryUnder general supervision, the Fire Sciences Instructor will prepare students for careers in firefighting, emergency response, and public safety. Students also learn about fire protection history, public safety regulations. budgeting, and community relations. Hands-on experience builds the skills needed to protect and serve as a firefighter, fire inspector, EMT or paramedic. 

Job Type: Full Time Exempt, 10 Month Calendar

Salary: $51,914.28 - $96,399.28 Placement in the range will be based on a combination of education, industry related experience, teaching experience, and certification.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of verifiable industry experience.
  • Arizona IFSAC or Pro Board Certification as Firefighter I & II
  • Fire Instructor I
  • HAZMAT Certified
  • Certified NREMT and/or Paramedic
  • Ability to obtain an Arizona Department of Education Career & Technical Education (CTE) Certification in the area of Industrial and Emerging Tech. https://www.azed.gov/educator-certification/forms-and-information/certificates
  • Level 1 IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Fire Science or closely related field
  • Fire Instructor II
  • EMT/Paramedic Instructor
  • 10 or more years working in a municipal or city fire department
