Key Requirements and Qualifications

• Certification: Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Music (Instrumental) (Grades K–12 or appropriate grade band) in accordance with Louisiana Department of Education guidelines (Bulletin 746).
• Education: Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Music Education, Instrumental Music, or a related field.
• Experience: Prior teaching or band directing experience is preferred, particularly at the middle and/or high school level.
• Content Knowledge: In-depth understanding of instrumental music instruction, music theory, performance techniques, and ensemble development; knowledge of marching band, concert band, and other performance groups; ability to implement a comprehensive music curriculum.
• Skills: Strong classroom and rehearsal management; ability to direct and coordinate band performances and events (including concerts, competitions, and parades); strong communication and organizational skills; ability to motivate and develop student musicians; ability to collaborate with staff, parents, and community stakeholders; and ability to manage equipment, uniforms, and program logistics.
