DESCRIPTION: The Music Production Technology Teacher is a dynamic and creative educator who delivers high-quality instruction in music production to high school students. This role entails classroom teaching, supervising student internships, and supporting students' development of audio engineering, music theory, songwriting, ear training, and industry software skills for music production. The ideal candidate will foster a collaborative, engaging learning environment, and will be adaptable to additional duties as assigned to support the school's media program.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production, Audio Engineering, Audio Production, Creative Audio Production and Sound Engineering, Entertainment Technologies,/Sound and Sound Recording, Music Production, Recording Arts and Production, Sound Recording Technology or Design, or a related field (Master's preferred), or 8,000 documented hours in the career field. Application for CTE teaching certification in progress.

2. Proven experience in Audio Technology, or related industry roles.

3. Prior teaching experience at the high school level is desirable.

4. Proficiency with industry- standard software (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton), audio workstations, mixing, and music business.

5. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

6. Ability to inspire and mentor students with diverse interests and backgrounds.

7. Willingness to adapt and learn new technologies and teaching methods.

8. A valid driver's license, as well as current insurance and vehicle with valid registration preferred.

9. Required criminal history background check, physical, and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to work in the U.S.

 

REPORTS TO: High School Principal and/or Director of Career and Technical Education

 

PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES:

 

1. Classroom Instruction: 

Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards in music production and related subjects.

 Teach students the fundamentals of music production and recording arts. 

 Assess student progress through assignments, projects, and assessments; provide constructive feedback. 

 Incorporate current industry trends and technologies into instructional practices. 

 Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. 

 

2. Student Internships and Practical Experience: 

Coordinate and supervise student internships related to music production, ensuring meaningful hands-on learning experiences. 

Partner with local media outlets, community organizations, and school departments to facilitate internship placements. 

Guide students in portfolio development, professional conduct, and career exploration in broadcast media. 

 

3. Extracurricular and Program Development:

 Assist in the development and management of the school's music production programs, such as a school news station, podcast, or video production club at the secondary level.

 Support student-led music and audiovisual technology projects. Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, workshops, and media events as needed. 

 

4. Technical Support and Equipment Management: 

Ensure proper use, care, and safety procedures are followed for all media equipment. 

Stay current with technological advances in media production tools and software. 

 

5. Additional Duties: 

Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.

 Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.

 Occasional evening or weekend events for school functions or community outreach. 

Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Career and Technical Education and district-level administration to support the media program and school objectives.

 

SALARY RANGE: $60,162.00 to $99,886.00

WEA CONTRACT 10 MONTHS
