POSITION: Transportation Supervisor
EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2026
CONTRACT: 260 Days (12 month position)
QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in transportation management is preferred;
Bachelor's degree or comparable training preferred

Employment Status: Regular/Full-time
FLSA Status: Exempt
Description: Enables each student, through safe and efficient transportation, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the District.
NOTE: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance
Essential Functions:
- Ensures safety of students
- Conforms with all state laws and regulations regarding school transportation
- Maintains safety standards in conformance with state and insurance regulations and develops a program of preventive safety
- Manages all transportation personnel matters including recruiting, training, supervising and making recommendations on employment, transfer, promotion, and discipline for contracted and substitute staff
- Advises on road hazards to assist with decision on school closing during inclement weather
- Assures Board policy, administrative procedure and labor contracts are followed
- Develops and administers a transportation program to meet all the requirements of the daily instructional program and extracurricular activities
- Oversees and maintains District routing and Transportation databases/software including Maintenance, surveillance, office, field trip and GPS software programs
- Attends appropriate committee and staff meetings
- Develops Transportation budget
- Authorizes purchases in accordance with budgetary limitations and district rules
- Performs vehicle and bus bidding, purchasing or leasing
- Maintains and assigns all district-owned transportation equipment and vehicles and develops plans for preventive maintenance and repair
- Administers fleet insurance and handles all district vehicle accidents
- Prepares all local and State reports and records as required
- Supervises resolution of discipline problems occurring on school buses
- Addresses parents' complaints and special requests
- Develops recommendations for future transportation needs based on resident students, distances, grade level and Board policies
- Remains current on transportation related issues through professional organizations and conferences
- Maintains good public relations with staff, parents and community
- Attends Board meetings as required
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Business Manager
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Three or more years successful experience in transportation management is preferred
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Good human relation skills with the ability to work well with administrators, bus drivers, mechanics, office staff and parents
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to prepare and administer budgets and oversee office operations
- A professional appearance and demeanor
- Hold and maintain a current Class B CDL with S/P endorsements
- Hold and maintain a current ODE Bus Driving Certificate
- Ability to pass a T-8 physical
- Have and maintain a clean driving record as determined by Ohio BMV Abstract report
