Description

Title: Auditorium Manager

Location: Greenville High School

Classification: Non-Bargaining Unit Employee

Reports to: Principal

Schedule: 8 hours per day, 215 calendar days per year - flexible schedule to work around auditorium use schedule

Salary: $58,823 - $74,382 per year based on relevant prior work experience and education

POSITION SUMMARY: The Auditorium Manager will oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the school auditorium, coordinate events, ensure the technical and physical setup of performances, and provide support to staff, students, and external groups using the space.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned

  • Coordinate the schedule and booking of the auditorium for school events, performances, assemblies, and external rentals
  • Work closely with event organizers, staff, and student groups to ensure proper planning and execution of events
  • Oversee the setup and breakdown of events, including seating arrangements, lighting, sound systems, and stage setups
  • Ensure all events run smoothly, troubleshooting issues related to the facility, technology, and other logistics as they arise
  • Operate and maintain technical equipment in the auditorium, including sound systems, lighting, projection, and other audiovisual equipment
  • Train and supervise student and staff volunteers in the use of technical equipment and the proper handling of materials
  • Ensure the auditorium is kept clean, organized, and properly maintained
  • Oversee the storage and care of all stage props, costumes, and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and fire codes
  • Assist with managing the auditorium's budget, including ordering supplies, equipment, and materials needed for events
  • Keep an inventory of all equipment, props, and technical resources, ensuring items are in working condition and well-maintained
  • Communicate event details to relevant stakeholders, including staff, security, and others involved in event support

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events and responsibilities
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Proficiency with audiovisual equipment, digital sound systems, wireless microphones, lighting, stage management, scenic construction/art, and counterweight fly systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external groups
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide hands-on support during events
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on event schedules
  • Satisfactory background check

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in theater, event management, or related field preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk. The employee will use their hands to handle, control, grasp, move, and feel operating control panels, connecting cables, and small tools or components. The employee is frequently required to reach above head and shoulder level. The employee is regularly required to climb ladders and stairs to access lighting and other elevated areas. The employee is frequently required to carry, lift, and move heavy equipment (lighting fixtures, sound equipment, stage props) weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasional team lifts may be required for larger or heavier items. The employee must have the visual acuity to see details in dimly lit environments. The employee will occasionally be required to work a varied schedule due to after-hours events and productions. In-person work is required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Communication: The employee must have clear speaking and sufficient hearing to communicate effectively and appropriately in person and on the telephone. Ability to write business correspondence in a professional manner. Ability to present information to small and large groups.
  • Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to use good judgment in making decisions.
  • Interpersonal: Maintain and encourage a safe environment for all students, staff, and the community. Effective organizational skills. Ability to work without direct supervision. Ability to be flexible in dealing with staff, students, parents, and the community. Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, dependability, honesty, and self-motivation while performing the duties of the position. Exhibits a positive image as a representative of the school district.
  • Mathematics: Ability to perform basic math computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Environmental: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee must be able to work under fluorescent lighting. The employee may be required to be outdoors for a short period of time and is therefore subject to varying weather conditions.
