Suffield Middle School - THRIVE Program
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and/or Masters in the content area
- Must possess or be eligible for one of the following CTSDE Certifications
- (165/065) Comprehensive Special Education, K-12
Salary: Salary, work year and working conditions will be in accordance with the current contract between the Board of Education and the Suffield Educators Association.
Period of Employment: Accepting applications for those looking to begin at the start of the 2026/2027 school year.
Reports to: Building Administrator/Special Education Supervisor
Position Expectations:
- Design instruction to meet students' academic and social/emotional needs
- Integrate emotional and behavioral support into daily instruction
- Use trauma informed and positive behavioral strategies to foster growth
- Maintain a safe, structured and supportive classroom environment
- Administer, analyze and interpret comprehensive academic evaluations
- Write accurate and thorough assessment reports, IEP's and progress reports.
- Positively engage teachers, students and families in the learning process.
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve learning for all students.
- Demonstrate knowledge of special education regulations and guidelines.
- Demonstrate ability to assess student learning on a continual basis and identify areas of intervention if needed.
