Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience:
3-5 years in technical support, with specific experience in PowerSchool and Google
Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications:Google Certified Educator, CompTIA A+, or Apple Certified Support Professional.
- Previous experience in a small school or NJ Charter School setting
Position Purpose
The Technology Coordinator provides comprehensive, on-site technical leadership for our three-building campus. Serving approximately 360 students and 57 staff, this role ensures that all instructional and administrative technology, such as PowerSchool and Google Workspace, and the physical network operate seamlessly. This is a "hands-on" leadership position responsible for maintaining a secure, efficient, and innovative digital learning environment.
Essential Functions
- Dual-Platform Management: Manages and troubleshoots the District's mixed ecosystem of PCs and Macs, providing immediate hardware and software support across both adjacent buildings.
- PowerSchool Administration: Serves as the primary administrator for the PowerSchool SIS; manages student data, state reporting (NJ SMART), and provides direct support/training to staff on the platform.
- Campus Network Connectivity: Ensures 100% uptime of the network infrastructure connecting the two buildings; manages Wi-Fi access points, firewalls, and reliable internet distribution.
- Google Workspace Lead: Administers the Google Workspace for Education environment, including Gmail, Classroom, Drive, and Chromebook management.
- Data Security & Privacy: Implements protocols to ensure compliance with FERPA/HIPAA; secures student and staff data within PowerSchool and cloud-based systems.
- Instructional Coaching: Provides one-on-one and group training for the 57 staff members on integrating Google tools and other educational software into the curriculum.
- Emergency Response: Provides immediate, on-site response to technology failures that disrupt classroom instruction or administrative operations.
- NJ State Reporting: Coordinates and submits all technology-related state reports, including the NJ Technology Plan and NJSLA testing readiness.
Additional Duties:
- Manages the inventory and lifecycle of all campus hardware.
- Coordinates with the School Business Administrator on the annual technology budget and E-Rate filings.
- Supports administrative staff with the Info-Fund accounting system.
Knowledge and Skills
Proficiency in troubleshooting both Windows and macOS.
Expertise in NJSLS; proficiency in educational technology (G-Suite); strong classroom management; ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
Expertise (or ability to acquire) in adult learning theory; advanced data visualization skills; deep knowledge of research-based instructional strategies.
