Franklin Township CSC School Police Officer
Description
Ideal candidates will be a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Tier 1 course or be eligible for a waiver of basic training. (Reserve, Town Marshal and Special Deputy Academies do not count). In all cases, candidates must be eligible to become a certified police officer in the State of Indiana.
All candidates must:
Be at least 21 years of age
Have a good moral character as determined through investigation conducted by the school system.
Possess a valid Indiana Operator's license
Have the ability to obtain certification as an Indiana School Safety Specialist and as a school resource officer within twelve months of employment.
JOB GOAL: Creates and maintains a safe and secure school climate and learning environment for students, staff and visitors. Provides a full range of law enforcement and security services to the District.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
1.Face exposure to all types of weather conditions
2.Face exposure to infectious agents such as hepatitis B
3.Performs complex task during life-threatening emergencies
4.Face life and death decisions during extreme conditions
5.Make rapid transitions from rest to maximal exertion without warning or warm-up periods.
6.Work for long periods of time, requiring sustained physical activity and intense concentration.
7.Must be able to physically protect him/herself and others
8.Use firearms, self-defense equipment and body armor
9.Must operate independently at incidents of uncertain duration
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Work closely with school administration in an effort to provide and maintain schools as a safe environment
2.Serves as a law enforcement resource to the schools
3.Provides security for all school facilities
4.Acts as a visible law enforcement figure in and around school facilities
5.Establishes and maintains rapport with students. Serves as a positive role model at all times
6.Investigates crimes and school rule/policy violations as appropriate
7.Responds to calls for service, determines the action needed and takes the appropriate action
8.Enforces Indiana Law as well as school rules and policy
9.Writes reports as needed/required
10.Communicates clearly, treating with respect, dignity and the utmost professionalism at all times, individuals inside or outside the school setting including students, staff and adults from diverse social and economic backgrounds.
11.Maintains the confidentiality of school records.
12.Other duties as assigned
Range $29.00 - $33.00 based on verified experience
2nd shift hours 1pm - 9pm
