Job Listing:  High School Intervention Specialist

 

Work Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 7:15- 2:45
Optional Fridays for additional pay: 9:00-noon

  • Early College Academy is a charter school that is a Dropout Prevention Credit Recovery High School.   Our charter is sponsored by the Educational Service center of Central Ohio, whose mission is to engage disenfranchised students, low income youth, first-generation college goers, English language learners, students of color and other young people underrepresented in higher education in a curriculum that has the potential for qualified students to earn college credit.  Early College Academy is on a 4-day work week, Monday - Thursday.  Fridays are optional half-day opportunity to work for additional pay by tutoring students, contacting parents, and an opportunity to work on assignments,, career counseling and to close the academic gap.

Minimum requirements:

  • Valid Ohio Teaching license
  • Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible, resourceful, enthusiastic and high energy level

Education

           Bachelors or Masters from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Experience
          Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

Essential Functions 

          Developing Individual Educational Plans ("IEP") for students. 

          Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEP's and behavior management plans. 

          Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, 

          Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping.

          Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

Additional Duties 

          At ECA there are no after school or in-school clubs, sports, study halls, hall or lunch duties.  One Professional Development meeting after school per month.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

          Ability to organize and coordinate work. 

          Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students and parents.

Qualifications Profile 

         Certification/License: 

        State of Ohio Certification as a Special Education Teacher or Intervention Specialist.
