The Division Head (Special Education) serves as the primary compliance office for the school site. The Division Head is responsible for the conduct, evaluation, and improvement of case management and instruction, as well as the development, review, and updating of individual education plans and implementation of identified accommodations. The Division Head provides educational guidance, support, and leadership to the staff to ensure compliance with legal requirements and the district's educational goals and objectives are being met.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Evaluates staff performance and encourages professional growth and self-improvement.
- Serves as special education compliance officer for the building.
- Oversees the assignment of case management to staff.
- Assists in developing the instructional course schedule, ensuring compliance with state regulations for class size.
- Serves as an LEA rep for IEP meetings.
- Provides ongoing training professional development for teachers.
- Monitors student outcomes in division classes to ensure that district educational goals and objectives are being met.
- Facilitates continual review and evaluation of curriculum.
- Serves as first referral from teachers on student disciplinary problems.
- Receives calls involving staff absences within the division and works with the division assistant to orient and place substitutes.
- Acts as Accommodations Facilitator for Standardized Testing.
Performs other tasks assigned by the associate principal of student services.
Qualifications:
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative Endorsement
- Strong understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions (PBIS) & Response to Intervention (RTI)
- Knowledge of attendance and behavior procedures under Illinois State School Code
- Administrative experience preferred
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Bilingual proficiency

LENGTH OF CONTRACT: 195-day assignment
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
- Salary Range: Administrative Salary Grade One - $134,511 - $168,138
