Mountain West Montessori Academy, a free public charter school in South Jordan, Utah, is now accepting applications for a Computer Science Specialist for the current 2025-2026 school year. Start date will be immediately.
The Computer Science Specialist partners with classroom teachers to deliver engaging, hands-on computer science instruction that builds student confidence and competence in coding. This role supports the implementation of our computer science curriculum through SkillStruck and other instructional tools, collaborating through co-teaching, small-group instruction, and classroom support.
The specialist helps students apply coding concepts through interactive projects and robotics experiences, including Dash and Sphero, making computer science tangible and accessible. In addition, this position monitors student progress within SkillStruck, provides basic troubleshooting support, and works closely with staff to ensure consistent and meaningful integration of computer science across grade levels.
This is a part-time position (approximately 15 hours per week) with a flexible schedule. A background in computer science, programming, or a related field is preferred, along with experience or interest in working with school-aged children.
Mountain West Montessori Academy provides a student-centered and individualized education based on the Montessori philosophy and research-based best practices. The educational program focuses on interdisciplinary connections and hands-on learning experiences.
In support of this mission, preference may be given to candidates who have previous Montessori teaching experience or hold Montessori certification. Preference may also be given to applicants with a computer science background and industry experience as well as enthusiasm for working with children ages 5-15.
