Position Title:  
We are looking to welcome a Bus Driver into our Rocket family. 

4 hrs/day,  7/ hrs / day available if interested in full time employment
Hours: 6:45am - 9:00am  /  2:00pm - 4:15pm
Starting hourly wage: Hourly

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title:                    BUS DRIVER                                                                                      
 
Reports to:           Transportation Supervisor / Director of Operations
 
Job Objectives:   Provides for the safe, efficient, and courteous transportation of students.
 
                           The school bus driver shall have an understanding of the role of pupil
                           transportation in the educational program and meet all the physical, mental and
                           moral requirements established by federal rule, state laws, and Administrative
                           Code 3301-83-06.
 
Minimum  Qualifications       
High school diploma.
Provides documented evidence of a clear criminal record as required by law.            
Being of legal age with a minimum of (2) years driving experience.
Being physically qualified : Rule 3301-83-07 of the administrative code.
Physical capability of safely and appropriately lifting and managing preschool and special needs children when necessary.
Annual driver record check with no more than 8 points and/or no 6 point convictions within the last twenty-four months as verified by an abstract driver record obtained through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Meets qualifications defined in the current Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation & Safety Rules, and school board policy.
Reads, comprehends, and adheres to the Ohio Department of Education Pupil Transportation Operation & Safety Rules manual. 
Completion of the Ohio pre-service school bus driver training program and in-service training: Rule: 3301-83-10
 Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a school bus endorsement and a satisfactory driving record.
Negative pre-employment and ongoing random drug tests results.
 
Essential Job  Functions
The following duties are representative of performance expectations.  A reasonable accommodation will be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.
 
Operates the bus according to all motor vehicle laws.
Follows board policies/administrative procedures and supports the district mission statement.
Prepares established time schedules and routes.  Keeps route sheets up to date.
Performs pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and prepares written reports.
Supervises bus loading and unloading in a manner acceptable for safe student entry and exit in alliance with 3301-83-13. 
Supervise students in a manner acceptable for safe bus operation. 
Reports student discipline problems, vandalism, and other related concerns in a timely fashion. 
Administer first-aid if necessary. 
Participates in the district's bus safety program as directed. 
Ability to perform bus evacuation in an emergency which may include the physical ability to move a handicapped or non-handicapped child. 
Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information. 
Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law. 
Assumes responsibility for the interior cleanliness of the vehicle. 
Assumes responsibility for the exterior cleanliness of the vehicle as directed by the transportation supervisor. 
Reports equipment malfunctions through the approved system of the district. 
Fuels the vehicle and monitors fluid levels. Maintains fluid levels if directed by the mechanic or supervisor. 
Reads and comprehends the Operators Manual for their bus. 
Reads, comprehends, and adheres to the district procedures for school bus driver as outlined in the Driver's Handbook. 
Communicates relevant information to the Transportation Supervisor regarding bus maintenance, student/parent issues, and other issues that impact transportation services in a timely fashion. 
Attends in-services, training sessions, and staff meetings as directed by the Transportation Supervisor. The driver shall maintain and or upgrade skills through training, meetings, and or in-service. 
Submits accurate paperwork and or reporting in a timely fashion. 
Ability to cope with stressful situations. 
Performs other job-related duties as directed. 

Working Conditions:
The following situations are examples of possible working conditions that may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
Potential for interaction with disruptive and/or unruly individuals.
Exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes.
Duties require operating and/or riding in a vehicle.
Duties may require lifting, carrying, and/or moving students and in an emergency situation.
Duties may require lifting, carrying, and/or moving work related materials or equipment.
Duties may require performing activities that include standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and/or crouching.
Duties may require exposure to equipment noises/vibrations, electrical hazards, chemicals, combustible materials, air borne particulates, and odors.
Duties may require traveling to meetings and work assignments.
Duties may include communicating needed assistance to assigned staff and volunteers.
Duties may require considerable paperwork and use of a computer terminal for data or maintenance work entry.
Duties may require working during the evening/weekends.
Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
 
Performance  Evaluation   
Job performance is evaluated according to the policy provisions adopted by the board of education and contractual agreements.
