Teacher - Perry Innovation and Entrepreneurship program

Perry Township Innovation and Entrepreneurship at University of Indianapolis is ready to hire four dynamic individuals driven to teach in a new program. Perry Township Innovation and Entrepreneurship at University of Indianapolis is designed to be modeled very closely to the AMP Lab in Fort Wayne. This program is designed to meet the Next Level Programs of study pathway in Entrepreneurship. Students will participate in a half-day program and will complete three courses: Principles of Entrepreneurship, New Venture Development, and Small Business Operations. Students will work to meet the competencies of each of these courses. In addition, this program will utilize Project Based Learning as its vehicle for delivering instruction as well as design thinking models to create innovative solutions to complex problems brought to our program by local community organizations such as entrepreneurs, non-profit organizations, and large corporations.

Position Purpose

You aren't just a teacher, you're a Project Lead and Co-Learner. Your mission is to ditch the lecture podium and join students in the "messy middle" of solving real-world business problems. Using Design Thinking, you'll guide student teams as they deliver prototype solutions to local industry partners.

  • Facilitator, Not Lecturer: You lead through inquiry—asking the right questions rather than giving all the answers.
  • Co-Teaching with Pros: You'll partner with industry mentors to help students "skill up" for specific, high-stakes challenges.
  • Navigating Ambiguity: You thrive when there isn't a clear answer key, modeling the grit and adaptability needed in the modern economy.

You'll bridge the gap between school and the real world, ensuring students hit state standards while building the durable habits they need to become visionary leaders.

What You'll Actually Do (Essential Functions)

Run the Sprints

  • Lead 8-week "Innovation Sprints" where students tackle real industry hurdles
  • Use Design Thinking to move teams from "blank page" to prototype

Build the Culture

  • Create a professional "safe-to-fail" environment. You'll mentor students to dissect failures, pivot quickly, and treat mistakes as data.
  • Model Agency—showing students how to be self-starters who don't wait for instructions.

Partner with the Pros

  • Co-teach alongside industry partners. You are the bridge between academic requirements and industry reality.
  • Share your expertise and build a learning experience that is transformational for students.

Track the Mastery

  • Grading in competencies to help students build confidence while also building skills.

The Entrepreneur Mindset

  • You Thrive in Ambiguity: You don't need an answer key. You love the challenge of a problem that hasn't been solved yet.
  • You Ask, You Don't Tell: You are a master of inquiry-driven coaching. You guide students to find their own solutions.
  • You Are Tech-Forward: You're comfortable with (or excited to learn) rapid prototyping tools, AI, and collaborative software.
  • You Are a Relationship Builder: You treat every interaction with students, business leaders, and university staff as a strategic partnership.

    The Resources

  • The AMP LabWe have worked closely with AMP lab and will build a very similar Studio Model
  • University of Indianapolis: Design Spine - The program for Perry Meridian High School and Southport students is located on the campus of UINDY. They utilize the Design Spine in their engineering program.

Why This Is Different

In a traditional classroom, you are the source of knowledge. In this setting, you are the facilitator of experience. You are helping students realize they don't have to wait until they are adults to change their community, they can do it right now, and you're the one leading the charge.
