FOOD PREPARER/TRANSPORTER
MUST HAVE VALID DRIVERS LICENSE - WILL BE TRANSPORTING FOOD BETWEEN SCHOOLS
Evergreen School District seeks a Food Preparer to join one of the leading K-8 school districts in the state of Montana. Evergreen's mission is to enable students to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners by ensuring quality instruction in a nurturing environment. The Food Preparer assists and supports the Food Services Program with a variety of duties. This position reports directly to the Food Services Director.
Preferred Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in volume food preparation
- Current knowledge of large quantity food preparation principles, policies, equipment, sanitation and safety procedures
- Willing to obtain a State & Local ServSafe certificate
- Current valid driver's license preferred
Job Responsibilities:
- Organize and prep planned breakfast and/or lunch menus
- Communicate directions to staff as needed
- Prepare food for transport
- Assist in serving and cleanup
- Clean and sanitize dishes
- Maintain inventory and supplies
- Store food/foodstuffs properly
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly
- Maintain inventory of food, supplies and equipment and ordering (as needed)
- Check food deliveries (as needed)
- Receive input from student groups regarding meal preferences
- Implement regular sanitation procedures
Additional job responsibilities may be assigned:
- Transport bulk food items in an efficient and prompt manner
- Transport mail between various district buildings as directed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to plan, prepare and serve well- balanced, volume meals that appeal to students
- Ability to communicate and give clear directions to others
- Ability to supervise personnel
- Ability to complete required paperwork
- Ability to work well under time and space pressures.
- Ability to organize and manage food preparation activities
- Ability to operate all kitchen equipment
- Ability to interact with staff and students positively
Physical Demands:
- Works inside the school building in kitchen and cafeteria settings under controlled, well-lit conditions
- Some heavy lifting
- Constant interaction with others
- Works with ovens and other kitchen equipment
- Exposure to cleaning solutions and other chemicals and fumes associated in kitchen sanitation
Evaluation:
- Performance to be evaluated annually by the Food Services Director
Terms of Employment:
- Hourly, 201 day contract year, Remuneration contingent upon preparation and experience
- Health insurance, leave, and retirement provided
- Work schedule/hours can be modified as determined by supervisor
