Description
Job Title: Career and Technical Education (CTE) Computer Science Teacher
Reports To: Principal / CTE Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Location: Middle/High School
Work Schedule: 10-Month
Position Summary:
The CTE Computer Science Teacher will provide instruction that prepares middle and high school students for success in computer science and related technology careers. The teacher will design engaging, hands-on lessons that build students' skills in programming, digital literacy, cybersecurity, web design, and computational thinking. The position emphasizes career readiness, problem solving, and integration of real-world applications aligned with industry standards and certifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with state CTE standards, emphasizing computer science, programming, and information technology concepts.
- Introduce students to foundational computer science skills, including coding, algorithms, data analysis, and systems thinking.
- Provide instruction in software development, web design, networking, cybersecurity, or robotics, depending on program pathways offered.
- Integrate career readiness and employability skills into daily instruction.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, technologies, and certifications
- Guide students in project-based learning, coding challenges, and collaborative problem solving.
- Manage classroom equipment and technology safely and responsibly.
- Collaborate with colleagues, postsecondary partners, and business/industry representatives to expand opportunities for students.
- Support students in earning industry credentials, participating in work-based learning, and preparing for postsecondary education or employment.
- Participate in professional development and stay current with CTE and computer science instructional best practices.
- Maintain accurate student records, grades, and documentation for CTE compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by school or district administration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business or related field required.
- Valid CTE teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Computer Science or Information Technology Education (as defined by state requirements).
- Ability to design lessons that are hands-on, project-based, and differentiated for diverse learners.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
