Farmington Public Schools is seeking a Special Education CARE Team Member (1.0 FTE) available immediately
This position will work at Irving A. Robbins Middle School and West District Elementary School
General Description:
This position serves as teacher leader within the Special Services Department, providing comprehensive support for students with significant needs and guiding building-based teams. This role involves facilitating Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings as an Administrative Designee, providing expert consultation on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), and specialized programming. Furthermore, the position is responsible for designing and delivering professional development on a variety of topics including but not limited to mental health trends, Physical Management Training, managing Risk and Threat assessments, as well as assisting with departmental staffing and scheduling for the district's specialized programs.
Qualifications:
- State of CT certification in School Social Work (#071) or State of CT teacher certification in Comprehensive Special Education (#065 or #165) or State of CT certification is School Psychology (#070)
- Experience working with students with significant needs (3-5 years)
- Strong consultation skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong public speaking skills
- Familiarity with DSM-V
- Thorough understanding of the PPT/IEP process
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Salary: $55,018 - $111,829 depending upon education and experience plus additional resource stipend
Reports To: Director of Special Services/ Supervisor of Special Services/ Assigned Building Administrator
