JOB TITLE/ASSIGNMENT

 

JOB TITLE:                                      Coordinator of Early Childhood

SCHOOL:                                         Edgebrook Elementary

REPORTS TO:                                 Executive Director of Student Services

CERTIFICATION                              Valid Illinois Professional Educator License and State Board of Education Administrative Endorsement.

REQUIREMENTS:                           Qualified Evaluator under PERA

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:            200 Day - 10 Month - Full Time 

START DATE:                                  August 03, 2026

 

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS

  1. Valid Illinois LBS1, School Psychologist, School Social Worker, or equivalent teaching endorsement and Administrative Endorsement.
  2. Minimum of five (5) years Special Education-related work experience preferred.
  3. Proven ability to mentor staff.
  4. Experience in providing curriculum leadership and innovation.
  5. Ability to work toward interdisciplinary instruction with other departments.
  6. Proven leadership skills.
  7. Ability to apply Special Education Rules and Regulations to maintain compliance requirements.
  8. Able to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
  9. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in demanding situations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

 

  1. Assist the Executive Director of Student Services with the identification and selection of scientific, research-based instructional strategies, curricula, and interventions for students with Low Incidence disabilities, such as Emotional/Behavior Disorder, Autism, and Intellectual Disability to enable them to progress in the general education curriculum and meet district and state standards.
  2. Inform the Executive Director of Student Services of student progress, teacher and other personnel effectiveness, and program development.
  3. Work with the Executive Director of Student Services in developing, supervising, and administering the budget and financial accounting of all Student Services programs.
  4. Advise the administration and staff regarding applicable state and federal statutes and the policy implications.
  5. Observe and collaborate with staff to develop, maintain, and standardize curriculum, set performance goals and objectives, and identify areas of improvement.
  6. Organize task-oriented teams to address specific department needs.
  7. Research, plan and coordinate in-service training programs for administrators, parents, regular teachers, special education teachers, etc. in understanding Special Education students.
  8. Facilitate the development of comprehensive programs and a continuum of services to provide continuity across the District and follow best practices in Resource, Instructional, and Multi-Tiered systems of support (RTI and PBIS).
  9. Plan and lead professional development activities for teachers, administrators, and support staff.
  10. Assist in communicating with parents and staff members regarding evaluation, programming, placement, services, and rights of students with disabilities.
  11. Coordinate and participate in IEP staffing and annual reviews and facilitate the compilation of documentation for student records.
  12. Conduct reviews of assigned Special Education documents to ensure compliance with District 15 procedures, State and Federal laws; identify areas of need and work with the Executive Director of Student Services to develop and implement programs to address those needs.
  13. Facilitate communication regarding transportation requirements for Special Education students to the district Transportation Department.
  14. Work collaboratively with the Director of Health Services to coordinate services.
  15. Consult with the building principal in the selection of Special Education personnel. Assist with the recruiting, hiring, and training of Special Education staff.
  16. Assist with the evaluation process of certified and non-certified staff.
  17. Participate in due process activities as needed.
  18. Prepare necessary reports as they relate to the Special Education program, including Skyward and I-Star databases.
  19. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director of Student Services.

PAY AND BENEFITS

Compensation: $88,000 Base Salary
