Job Title: Technology and Library/Media Services Coordinator
Reports To: Superintendent of Schools
Effective Date: July 1, 2026
Duty Days: 176 days (regular teacher contract)
Salary: Based on CCSD #180 Teacher Salary Schedule
Qualifications
• State of Illinois fingerprinting and background check in compliance with state code and district policy requirements. A fingerprint-based criminal history records check and a check of the Statewide Sex Offender Database and Violent Offender Against Youth Database (when available) will be performed on the successful candidate as required by State law. Each newly hired employee must complete an Immigration and Naturalization Service Form as required by federal law. The District retains the right to discharge any employee whose criminal background investigation reveals a conviction for committing or attempting to commit any of the offenses outlined in Section 5/21-23a of The School Code or who falsifies or omits facts from employment materials.
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) preferred; substitute or teaching license acceptable depending on assignment, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology, Library Science, Business, or a related field required (preferred)
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in information technology management, library-media services, or a school-based technology role.
• Prior experience in a school district or educational setting strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of district technology systems, media resources, and digital platforms.
• Strong understanding of network systems, hardware/software management, and student information systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, administrators, families, and vendors.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project-management skills.
• Ability to travel between district buildings as needed.
• Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Position Overview
The Technology and Library-Media Services Coordinator provides district-wide leadership and operational support for technology systems, media services, and digital resources. This position ensures that technology infrastructure, information systems, and library/media services effectively support teaching, learning, communication, and district operations.
The Technology and Library-Media Services Coordinator oversees technology planning, hardware and software management, network operations, and library/media services while supporting staff and students through reliable systems, access to digital and print resources, and ongoing professional learning. This blended role is designed to meet the needs of a small district by combining leadership, technical expertise, and service-oriented support.
Performance Responsibilities

Technology Leadership & Systems Management
1. Manages district-wide technology systems, including hardware, software, and online platforms.
2. Plans, procures, deploys, inventories, and maintains end-user devices and technology resources.
3. Oversees the student information system and supports district administrative and operational technology functions.
4. Develops, implements, and evaluates the district's long-range technology plan.
5. Recommends and manages the district technology budget aligned with district priorities.
6. Serves as project manager for district technology initiatives.
7. Develops and maintains technology documentation, procedures, and manuals.
8. Schedules and prioritizes technology tasks to minimize disruption to the instructional day and school calendar.
Technical Operations & Infrastructure Support
9. Provides district-wide technical support for computer systems, networks, and related equipment.
10. Troubleshoots hardware, software, and connectivity issues; coordinates with vendors and service providers as needed.
11. Develops and maintains disaster recovery, backup, and data retention plans.
12. Evaluates contracts, communication systems, and compliance with regulatory requirements, including 9-1-1 systems.
13. Maintains working knowledge of network security, databases, web services, VoIP, and infrastructure systems.
14. Develops lifecycle plans for replacement, maintenance, and ongoing support of technology resources.
Library, Media & Digital Resource Services
15. Manages district media services, including digital and print library resources.
16. Maintains and organizes media and library collections to support curriculum, student learning, and staff needs.
17. Supports students through library services, including book circulation, distribution, and access to instructional and recreational reading materials.
18. Collaborates with instructional staff and administrators to align media and library resources with district goals and standards.
19. Supports access to digital content platforms, databases, and instructional media tools.
20. Promotes digital citizenship and responsible use of technology and information resources.
Professional Learning & Collaboration
21. Plans and delivers professional development for staff related to technology systems, digital tools, and media resources.
22. Supports staff in using technology for data collection, reporting, and operational efficiency.
23. Participates in meetings with teacher teams, administrators, and district leadership regarding technology and media needs.
24. Collaborates with district administrators on overlapping initiatives and improvement efforts.
25. Seeks out and submits grant applications related to technology and media resources when appropriate.

27. Models ethical, professional, and nondiscriminatory practices.
28. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
• Regular movement between classrooms, buildings, and district sites.
• Occasional work outside regular hours may be required for system maintenance or emergency support.

Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent in accordance with the Board of Education's evaluation policy.
