Job Title: Lunchroom Monitor                                    Wage/Hour Status: Non Exempt
Reports to: Campus Administrator                             Pay Grade: PS1
Dept/School: Elementary School                               Days Employed: 168 Days
                                                                                    Hours: Part-time (4 hours/day)
 
Overview:
Help make lunchtime a great experience for students! Lunchtime is an essential time to recharge and connect with friends. We are looking for a caring and dependable Lunchroom Monitor to help create a safe, positive environment where our students can refuel and get ready for a great afternoon of learning.
 
Primary Purpose:
Assist campus staff in supervision and management of students in the cafeteria. Work under supervision of the principal/assistant principal.
 
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or 48 or more college hours
  • Valid Texas educational aide certificate
  • Acceptable background check and fingerprint results
  • Meet federal Title I requirements for paraprofessionals
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
Experience:
  • Some experience working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Safety and Supervision:
  1. Supervise and ensure safety and security of students in the lunchroom.
  2. Assist students with physical functions related to eating lunch.
  3. Assist staff in behavior management and student discipline during lunch periods.
  4. Assist staff in keeping behavioral records.
  5. Help maintain a neat and orderly cafeteria.
  6. Inform staff of needs or problems of individual students.
  7. Follow district safety and emergency protocols.
Other:
  1. Participate in staff meetings and special events as assigned.
  2. Participate in staff development activities to improve job performance.
  3. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
 
Equipment Used:
No specialized equipment use.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; moderate lifting and carrying.
