Pay Range: $31.00 - $45.00/Hour, Based on Experience
PROGRAM DATES: July 6, 2026 - August 14, 2026
ORIENTATION: July 1, 2026 (Mandatory) & July 2, 2026 (Optional for new staff/classroom set up)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide consultation, transition support and staff development to BOCES and component district staff to meet the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. These services would support both preschool and school aged programming.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Provide classroom-based consultation to teachers and support staff in designing appropriate classroom environments and instructional plans for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Coordinate and/or support transitions of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders between educational systems; Preschool to School Aged; School Aged to Community.
- Provide direct staff development to BOCES and component district staff on progressive structured teaching approaches.
- Coordinate staff development for BOCES and component districts in instructional areas requiring liaison with outside agencies or other community resources.
- Perform behavioral support consultant duties as assigned.
- Provide community-based presentations and/or conference/workshop sessions on topics relating to Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Develop and disseminate information and program descriptions to parents and community based referral sources.
- Represent BOCES 2 in various community forums and committees relating to Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Participate in staffings and CPSE/CSE meetings as appropriate to review the programs of students.
- Provide individual assessments/consultation for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Maintain necessary records.
- Perform other such professional related duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Director for Exceptional Children or appropriate Special Education Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Five years experience in Special Education to include students with Autism Spectrum Disorders preferred.
Education: New York State Certification in Special Education, School Psychology, or Speech.
